ANTIQUE 1750’S ERA EDWARD SCARLETT DOUBLE FOLDING SPECTACLES W/CASE!

ANTIQUE 1750’S ERA EDWARD SCARLETT DOUBLE FOLDING SPECTACLES W/CASE!

ANTIQUE 1750’S ERA EDWARD SCARLETT DOUBLE FOLDINGSTEEL SPECTACLES WITH METAL CASE!I RECENTLY ACQUIRED A SMALL VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE COLLECTION OF ASSORTED ITEMS. THERE ARE SEVERAL PAIR OF ANTIQUE SPECTACLES, TOYS, ADVERTISING, ETC. LISTED FOR AUCTION TODAY IS A WONDERFUL FIND. IT IS A PAIR OF 1750’S ERA SPECTACLES WITH THE ORIGINAL CASE. THE CASE IS HEAVY METAL, WEIGHS 106 GRAMS AND MEASURES ABOUT 5 1/4″ LONG X 1 7/8″ WIDE X 1/2″ THICK, HAS A HINGED LID AND IS IN GREAT CONDITION. THE LID WILL NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY, IS COMPLETE AND NOT BROKEN. THE AMAZING GLASSES WEIGH ABOUT 25.3 GRAMS AND MEASURE APPROXIMATELY 4 1/2″ ACROSS THE FRONT. EACH LENS MEASURES 32mm AND THE NOSE PIECE MEASURES 20mm. EACH ARM MEASURES 4″ WITH A SECOND HINGE AND ARMS THAT MEASURE 2 1/4″ & 2 3/8″ . ONE ARM IS “60”. RESEARCH ADVISES THAT EDWARD SCARLETT INVENTED THESE EARLY SPECTACLES AND JAMES AYSCOUGH INVENTED THE DOUBLE HINGED ARM TO BETTER FIT THE HEAD. THEY HAVE CERTAINLY BEEN WORN AND THE STEEL HAS DARKENED, BUT LENSES ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND FIT EASILY INTO THE CASE. WHAT AN ADDITION TO YOUR COLLECTION THESE WOULD BE….
