Rare 1892 Columbian Exposition Half Dollar – America’s First Commemorative Coin

This collectible piece from the Postal Commemorative Society showcases America’s First Commemorative Coin, issued by the United States Mint in Philadelphia in 1892 to celebrate the World’s Columbian Exposition held in Chicago, Illinois (1892-1893). Notably, this offering features a genuine 1892-dated coin struck in .900 fine silver, a rarity as many examples bear an 1893 date. The coin is beautifully presented in a custom display envelope, complete with a cancelled stamp envelope from San Salvador, Bahamas. The reverse of the coin can be easily viewed by sliding the envelope out of its protective display sheet. Housed within its original 8 x 5 3/4″ rigid black grained booklet, this item remains in great condition. The name of the original purchaser has been marked out for privacy.
