Vintage Elgin Open-Face Pocket Watch, Grade 296, Running – 1906
This Elgin open-face pocket watch movement, serial number 12178360, is graded as 296/Class 105/Size 18s and dates back to 1906. The swing-out movement features a stem wind and lever set mechanism. After winding, the watch has been keeping good time over the past few days (requiring daily winding). The crown is either a replacement or worn down; while it still functions, a replacement is likely warranted. The bright white dial exhibits numerous hairline cracks, but the hands are in good condition. The case measures approximately 57.8 mm in diameter and 22.45 mm thick (including the crystal). There are no dents in the case, and the front screws on and off smoothly. The inside of the case is marked with the Crescent Watch Case logo, and it appears to be nickel with a star and crescent moon design. The crystal is solid with normal rub marks and two small chips between the 11 and 12 o’clock positions (see photos). Please review the photos for a complete visual assessment.
