Antique Conscience Fund Coin Bank – Speer-Rosefelt Calendar Bank Co. (1920s) – Marble Finish
This antique “Conscience Fund” coin and currency bank, manufactured by the Speer-Rosefelt Calendar Bank Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, offers a glimpse into a bygone era. Dating back to at least 1920, as indicated by the patent date on the bottom, this bank boasts a unique design with a dark green and black marble finish. Measuring approximately 3 1/2″ x 3 1/16″ x 4″, it features a dime slot, a quarter slot, and a nickel slot, each equipped with a triggering device likely responsible for advancing the date. Two holders near the bottom suggest the possibility of an attached bank nameplate, although none is currently present. The only missing component appears to be the key for accessing the money chamber. While the money chamber seems empty, this bank remains a charming and collectible piece of history.
