Antique American Waltham Open Face Pocket Watch, Model 1883 Grade #1 – Parts or Repair
This is an American Waltham Watch Co. nickel silver cased open face pocket watch, model 1883 grade #1. It features a size 18s case and a 7 jewel movement. The watch is stem wind and set. The balance runs smoothly but the watch itself does not run. The movement serial number – 4898455 dates this watch to 1891. The case has no dents or monogram and features screw-off front and back covers that work well. The inside back is marked ‘Illinois Watch Case Co. – Nickel Silver’. The crystal is solid but does have normal rub marks and a couple of mild chips on the beveled edge (see photos). The dial is bright white but does have a hairline crack as seen.
