This elegant Victorian mourning pin dates back to the late 19th century (circa 1890s). Marked “Pat. Appl’d For” on the reverse, it showcases a classic Edwardian design featuring an oval center with intricate vertical lines and swirling motifs at each end. Deeply ridged leaf designs accentuate the ends, adding to its timeless beauty. The pin boasts a unique enclosed hinge and closed C clasp mechanism, ensuring secure closure. While some wear is evident, including minor loss of black enamel on the back and pin, it remains in good working order and is a testament to its enduring craftsmanship. This antique piece measures approximately 2 1/2″ long x 1/4″ wide at the center and weighs around 3.3 grams.
