Vintage Elgin Grade 73 Open Face Pocket Watch (1888) – Silverine Case, Parts/Repair
This vintage Elgin open face pocket watch features a Grade 73 / Class 11 / Size 18s 7 jewel movement housed in a Dueber Silverine case. The serial number, 2729314, dates the movement to 1888. The watch is currently not running and winds tightly; the balance wheel rotates smoothly but the timepiece does not keep time. It features a stem wind and set function (the crown shows signs of wear). The Dueber Silverine case measures approximately 57.39 mm in outer diameter and the watch is 19.75 mm thick, including the heavy crystal. The plain case is in nice condition with a couple of dents on the back (please see photos). The hinged covers close securely, and the crystal is solid with a tiny chip at the 6:30 position.
