This exquisite antique locket dates back to the 1890s and is crafted from gold-filled material. Inside, it bears the signature “F & B”, identifying it as a piece made by Foster & Bailey of Providence, Rhode Island, a renowned firm operating from 1878 to 1898. Weighing approximately 9.1 grams and measuring about 1 1/8″ in height (including the attached ring) by 1″, this locket opens to reveal two compartments. One compartment houses a charming black and white photograph of a young child, protected by an original clear cover. The cover itself features a distinctive machine-edged design and is beautifully engraved with the initials “GIP” or possibly “MP”. While the locket displays signs of gentle wear consistent with its age, including some edge wear on the back, it remains in nice condition and functions perfectly.
