Vintage 1940s Silver Tone Intaglio Horse & Rider Tie Bar – Steeplechase Scene
This vintage tie bar is a striking piece from the 1940s. Crafted from unmarked silver-tone metal, it weighs approximately 6.4 grams and measures about 2 1/2 inches in length. The centerpiece is a domed glass intaglio, or reverse-carved glass, measuring about 1/2 inch across and bezel set. This detailed intaglio depicts a steeple chase horse and rider, with the rider sporting a red jacket and hat and white pants, atop a black horse. The tie bar shows signs of wear consistent with its age and remains in nice condition and good working order.
